The Liberals are completely hypocritical about the Bush approach to N. Korea.
First, Bush has been blasted by Liberals (Obama, NY Times, NBC, the Leftist blogs) for unilateral decisions regarding threats from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Then Bush deals with N. Korea (and Iran for that matter) only with other nations involved, trying to reach multilateral solutions.
In the case of N. Korea, Bush used the six-party talks and the U.N.; both of which anyone with the least common sense would know are futile.
Now, Obama repeatedly flails around with meaningless tough talk statements about "unacceptable behaviour and" breaking international law". It is obvious that the N. Koreans (and similarly the Iranians) laugh at, and ignore, Obama, knowing how naive and weak-minded Obama is when it comes to meaningful action.
Likewise, the Chinese and Russians simply ignore Obama on every issue including N. Korea. Now we have a proposal that we need a different kind of multilateral solution which somehow will trick N. Korea into doing what they have no intention of doing. What a bunch of crap!
China is the only nation that can control N. Korea through harsh economic measures and even real military threats, no matter what kind of puffed up blustering Obama does.
