The overriding intention of the CONSTITUTION was meant to LIMIT AND RESTRICT THE POWERS OF GOVERNMENT OVER THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN. The BILL OF RIGHTS was added to the original Constitution because the framers were concerned that the RESTRICTIONS ON GOVERNMENT INTRUSION WERE NOT STRONG ENOUGH OR CLEAR ENOUGH IN THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT.
There are opinions from learned legal scholars on both sides of the question whether Congress can force people to buy health insurance according to the interstate commerce clause of the Constitution.
However, it doesn't seem that the framers of the Constitution meant to stuff elephants through this pinhole of an interstate commerce clause, which is what would be done if Congress could force health insurance on everyone.
There have been enough stretches of that clause to cause worry among those who see the expansive use of the interstate commerce clause as an unintended intrusion of government on individual rights. If government can force individuals to buy health insurance, there is no limit to what the government can force individuals to buy or do under the guise of interstate commerce.
THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS AND A THREAT TO THE BILL OF RIGHTS. IT REPRESENTS A MAJOR STEP TOWARD THE CREATION OF A TOTALITARIAN SOCIALIST STATE.
