Remember how Obama repeatedly blasted Bush for the methods created for the War on Terrorism including: (1) The Patriot Act, (2) wiretaps without court approval each time, (3) email intercepts for suspected terrorists (4) rendition (5) taking prisoners in Iraq and holding them without criminal trials, (6) use of drones to bomb terrorist locations risking collateral damage, (7) suspending Habeas Corpus, (8) keeping GITMO open, (9) planning to keep U.S. troops in Iraq for several years beyond the summer of 2009, (10) investigating home-grown terrorism as violating the privacy of U.S. citizens.
WAIT A MINUTE! These are the same things that Obama is now using and claiming are necessary for the security of this country. President Slick pulled another "now you see it, now you don't trick" on his swooning admirers.

Cash for Clunkers - Typical Bad Government Forecast
Obama tries to turn this debacle of "Cash for Clunkers" into a victory. The administration couldn't get it right in its forecast of costs for a simple $1 billion program, running out of funds in less than 1/4 of the projected time. Meanwhile, Obama wants us to buy into a government-run health care system, that is far far more complex to run than Cash for Clunkers, and is supposed to cost a $100 billion per year. Applying the same ratio, the government would run out of money for government health care in each calendar year at about the end of March and spend at least $400 billion per year instead of $100 billion per year. This is the Change We Can Believe In.
The Teleprompter President also gets on television and talks about having people not get into credit card crises anymore. Meanwhile, the administration induces people to make car purchases with the Cash for Clunkers program; getting many to make big car loans for new cars. Many of these buyers would be much better off driving their depreciated clunkers and saving the cost of a new car that they don't really need. But, then again, Obama needs to prop up his automobile company, Government Motors.

Dangerous Censorship of Congressional Opponents to Government Health Care Bill
Pelosi and Democrats in the House are using committee rules in an unprecedented way to actually censor free speech of Republicans and those who oppose Government-run health care. All members of Congress have "franking privileges", which means they can mail newsletters to their constituents about what is going on in Congress with the postage paid by the congressional budget. The free mailings are not allowed to be for campaigning but, other than that, opposition or support of bills is allowed.
Pelosi is using the "Franking Committee" which approves the free mailing to CENSOR Republican opposition to Obama's health care plan.
One Republican congressman described the health plan as "Democrat sponsored government run health care" and was told by Pelosi that he had to use the phrase "majority sponsored public health option" or his franking privilege would be revoked.
Another Republican congressman wanted to use an exact quote from Obama, which said in effect that to save cost some Medicare patients would have to forego surgery and use pills to control pain. Pelosi told this congressman that he could not use that statement from Obama or he would lose his franking privilege.
Without the franking privilege, congressmen would have to pay for the mailings themselves which is not a practical option.
This is a very dangerous path we are being taken along by Pelosi, Obama and the Liberal Democrats. It overrides the First Amendment to the Constitution, allowing free speech and substitutes Pelosi-Speak. It violates the most basic principle of this country in order to make a power grab by Pelosi and the Liberal Democrats; there is nothing "liberal" about censorship. Of course, socialism is more often than not, practiced in dictatorships rather than in democracies.

(b)for terminally ill kidney-cancer patients, drug Sutent that would help, deemed to expensive for use for most patients;
(c) for macular degeneration, effective drug Macugen banned from use, too expensive, and drug Lucentis restricted to about 20% of cases due to high cost, and then for only one eye, so sufferers would go blind in other eye;
(d) for Alzheimer patients, drug Aricept when used in early stages can delay disease, ruled not cost effective for early use
(e) for rheumitoid arthritis, drug Kineret prohibited from use because of cost
(f) for back pain, surgeries and steroid injections procedures greatly restricted due to cost, government says take a pain pill;
(g) for women seeking fertility treatments, restrictions to a limited few due to cost;
(h) for women who developed cervical cancer, pap smear testing that may have caught the onset of cancer had been denied to reduce government spending.
The government in the U.K. has a concept of a "quality adjusted life year" where bureaucrats decide that they cannot afford to spend more than $22,000 to extend a life by six months, and the bureaucrats decide the liklihood of the life extension period, not the doctors.
In Britain, for 2008, cancer survival rates are among the worst in Europe and five year survival raes are well below those in the United States, 84% vs 73% for breast cancer and 92% vs 57% for prostate cancer.
With Obama's "government option" single payer system (which will encompass today's Medicare and Medicaid patients), the government will tell you who is too old or too young or too sick to receive full care; you may not be a cost effective patient, so just suffer or die.
You can be sure that Congress and Obama will not personally be limited to this kind of health care.

They Need to Teach Arithmetic at Harvard Law School
Evidently, you don't need to know arithmetic to graduate from Columbia University or to get into Harvard Law School.
Obama said he would cut the Bush deficit (about $450 billion in the last year) in half which would be about $225 billion, but instead he has a budget deficit of over $1.8 trillion. Obama's deficit is four times that of Bush' deficit and eight times what Obama promised.
Obama said that the Stimulus Bill was needed immediately in order to limit unemployment to 8 million, it is now over 9.5% and climbing. WHERE ARE THE JOBS? There has been no stimulus from the Stimulus Bill which turned out to be filled with every bad spending idea and pork project from the Liberals who couldn't get these ideas passed under previous presidents. Obama doesn't seem to know that 9.5% is greater than 8%, the difference being about 20% or 2.6 million fewer Americans working than Obama promised.
Obama said his National Health Care plan would be paid for by cutting $2 trillion over ten years from the healthcare industry. Actual identified potential savings over ten years, from pharmaceutical companies and hospitals, are $230 billion. This is a factor of almost nine times less than what he promised. Obviously, the difference will come in the form of increased taxes and decreased medical services.
Here are some opportunities for Obama to "recalibration" his promises.

Politically correct (PC) phrases have worked their way into schools, the workplace, the media and political speeches for the past few decades. Some PC talk has stuck with us and other has fallen by the wayside for most as just too phony. So, a ghetto is an "ethnically homogeneous area", a short person is "height challenged", old people are "chronologically challenged", censorship is "selective speech", a housewife is a "domestic engineer", coming in last in a contest makes you "the last winner" and so on.
Thanks to Obama we now have two new phrases to add to politically correct speak. When you lie, exaggerate, distort or give an uninformed opinion, instead of apologizing and admitting you were wrong, you have created a "TEACHABLE MOMENT" whereby you have the opportunity to "RECALIBRATE" your words.
These Obamaisms are perfect for all politicians and have the chance of working their way into other parts of society.

Obama Condemns Cambridge Police As Acting Stupidly, But...
There was an incident in Cambridge MA. a day ago. A Cambridge Sargent in full uniform answered a 911 call of burglary in progress where it turned out that a Black Harvard professor was trying to force his way into the back door of his own home because the door was apparently stuck. All of the details of who said what to whom are under investigation but the culmination was that the Black professor was arrested by the White officer for disorderly conduct and was later released with charges dismissed.
Meanwhile Obama, who by his own claim, is supposed to transcend racial politics and be the president of all people, and incidentally also be the chief law enforcement officer of this nation, decided to weigh in with an opinion of the incident at a press conference yesterday.
Obama doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut and we learned a little more about his racial politics by his comments.
His statement in response to a question was first that he didn't know the facts because he wasn't there (in Cambridge), but then without knowing the facts he jumped right in and condemned the Cambridge Police for "ACTING STUPIDLY".
We don't know who acted stupidly in this incident, but one person who clearly acted stupidly was Obama. Maybe the actions of the Cambridge officer were justified and maybe not and maybe the Harvard Professor was in the right or not. There were at least 8 witnesses at the scene at various times and the story will get straightened out.
Whenever Obama gets caught without a teleprompter, we can continue to see a glimpse of the real man: PETTY, BIASED, EGOTISTICAL, UNIFORMED AND INCOMPETENT.
Meanwhile Obama, who by his own claim, is supposed to transcend racial politics and be the president of all people, and incidentally also be the chief law enforcement officer of this nation, decided to weigh in with an opinion of the incident at a press conference yesterday.
